The Shrikhand Mahadev Trek is a revered pilgrimage leading to the Shrikhand Mahadev Peak (5,227 meters / 17,150 ft.), dedicated to Lord Shiva. This sacred journey offers breathtaking views of the Himalayan ranges, including the Parvati Valley of Kullu, Jorkandan, Rangrik ranges of Kinnaur, Hansbeshan, and other peaks southeast of the Satluj River.
The trek has two main routes:
✔ Nirmand – Jaon Village Route (most popular)
✔ Arsu Route (less traveled)
To reach the base camp (Jaon Village), travelers must drive from Shimla to Rampur, cross the Satluj River, and enter the Nirmand region of Kullu district before continuing toward Jaon.
The Shrikhand Mahadev Peak, resembling a Shivling, is a significant spiritual landmark at 5,227 meters.
The Shivalingam at Shrikhand Mahadev is a towering 70 feet rock formation, located at an altitude of 17,150 feet above sea level. The yatra is known for its steep ascent, rocky terrain, and low oxygen levels at higher altitudes. Due to its spiritual importance, the pilgrimage is also called Shrikhand Kailash Yatra in Himachal Pradesh.
🕉 Yatra Duration: The pilgrimage takes place between mid-June to September and lasts for 15-20 days per year.
🗓️ Yatra Start Date: The yatra officially begins on Guru Poornima. heavy snowfall and storms, which usually start by mid-October.
✅ Health Check-up: Pilgrims must undergo a medical check-up before the journey due to high-altitude conditions and low oxygen levels.
✅ Medical Facilities: There are no major medical aid centers on the route.
According to Hindu mythology, Bhasmasura, a powerful demon, performed intense penance and meditation for years, pleasing Lord Shiva. However, consumed by pride and ego, Bhasmasura attempted to use his bhasma kangan (destructive power) on Lord Shiva. To escape, Mahadev vanished into a cave and later reappeared on the Shrikhand Mahadev Peak.
🔹 The cave where Lord Shiva disappeared is known as Devdank, located near Nirmand.
🔹 The Shrikhand Mahadev Peak is believed to be the place where Lord Shiva finally appeared, making it a sacred pilgrimage site.

🔹 Day 1: Jaon Village to Singhad (3 km) – Gradual ascent through forests.
🔹 Day 2: Singhad to Thachru (12 km) – Steep climb leading to Thachru Top (3,600m).
🔹 Day 3: Thachru to Bheem Dwar (10 km) – Cross Kali Ghati Pass, descend to scenic meadows.
🔹 Day 4: Bheem Dwar to Shrikhand Mahadev Peak (10 km) – Challenging ascent over glaciers.
🔹 Day 5-6: Return Journey via the same route.

Begin your journey with a pick-up-from chandigarh Bus stand, Railway Station or any hotel and proceed directly Stay at Jaon Village is where the motorable road for this trek ends. have the Temple of Mata Shelashni the potrate of the Mata Parwati .Jaon village is 170 Kms from Shimla via Bagipul and Nirmand.
Today, early morning we will go on a journey to Shrikhand Kailash, our stay for today will be thatibeel and thachru, after doing 11 km moderate trek, we will reach thatibeel and do a night stay.
This morning we will trek from thatibeel to reach kunsha via Kali Ghati, Bhimtalai, respectively. Our stay will be at kunsha today's trek is 11 km moderate trek.
Today we will go from here to bheemdvar Lions will go to Parvati Bagh if there is a possibility, but it will keep looking at the conditions of Path
Today is a very important day for us, on this day we will go for darshan and after darshan we have to come back to Bimdabar
Conclude your Trek With a pick-up from jaon village , proceeding directly to Chandigarh Bus stand, Railway Station or any Hotel.
Travel will depend on the weather

Registration is recommended for this trek as it helps track the number of pilgrims going up and thus necessary steps can be taken to support them in case of an emergency.
Online registration is available for this trek. You have to register with the authorities at Singhad. The authorities set up camps at Singhad during the yatra period.
Yes a medical fitness certificate is necessary to perform this trek during the yatra period. Some devotees do skip the registration, however it is not recommended. This is a tough and dangerous trek and you should be physically and mentally strong to complete it. Also, there is a low oxygen level at the top, and some pilgrims do fall ill due to lack of oxygen. Therefore, please keep it in mind while planning for the Shrikhand Mahadev Trek.
